Lydia`s Professional Uniforms and the AACN distribute scholarship money to nursing students

Press Release Summary: The Lydia’s Professional Uniforms/AACN Excellence in Academics Nursing Scholarship program has awarded two students with money for their education. Both recipients are in their junior year at universities and both have achieved a G.P.A. above 3.5. They each have short and long term goals that involve the nursing profession.
Press Release Body: Lydia’s Professional Uniforms and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing have selected two candidates to award with the Lydia’s Professional Uniforms/ AACN Excellence in Academics Nursing Scholarship for the fall 2008 semester. The award is designed to acknowledge the important role nurses play in the health care system and improve access to baccalaureate nursing education programs.
Gina Ryan who is a junior in college, a Navy wife and mother of six is one of the scholarship recipients. Gina attends the University of Oklahoma Health and Science Center where she is currently earning her license as a Registered Nurse. Upon receiving her license she would like to work in Hospice. Her long term goals include opening an assisted living facility/ hospice home. Gina will receive $2500 to put towards her education.
Nicole Brainard, a student in her junior year at Oregon Health and Science University, is also a scholarship recipient. Nicole is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in order to fulfill her short term goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Nicole also has long term career goals of becoming involved in public health. She would like to focus on traditional native healing practices and alternative medicine as well as conventional medicine. She believes that this combined focus will create an environment that promotes patient autonomy regarding treatment. Another of Nicole’s career goals is administration within her tribe’s health clinic or hospital, which is currently in the planning phase. Nicole will also receive $2500 towards her education.
